Kamala Harris Criticizes Biden and Trump Administrations Over Handling of Israel-Gaza Conflict
Former Vice President says Washington should have acted 'sooner and more forcefully' to curb Israel's military campaign.
Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris stated Wednesday that both the Biden and Trump administrations failed to adequately use U.S. leverage to influence Israel's military campaign in Gaza, asserting that Washington should have taken action "sooner and more forcefully."
Speaking at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies in Seoul, South Korea, Harris specifically criticized the current administration for offering Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a "blank check" and suggested that her own previous administration also missed opportunities to exert greater influence.
The Republican Jewish Coalition responded to Harris's remarks, calling them "unsurprising." The group pointed to Harris's absence from Netanyahu's 2024 address to Congress and her opposition to legislation targeting the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement as evidence of her stance.
The coalition also recalled Harris's call for a halt to Israeli military operations in Rafah and her agreement with a student's accusation of "ethnic genocide" against Israel in 2021. These past actions, according to the RJC, further underscore her critical perspective on Israeli military actions.
Warren Kinsella, an attorney and author who worked on Harris's 2024 presidential campaign, expressed shame regarding his association with her following her recent statements.
