Kaia Gerber Steps Out Weeks After Brother's Death

Kaia Gerber made a public appearance on Thursday, running errands in Los Angeles, weeks after the death of her brother, Presley Gerber.

Gerber, 25, appeared stoic during her solo outing, dressed casually and carrying a Fendi purse. She wore sunglasses throughout the outing and had her hair pulled back in a claw clip.

On the same day, her mother, Cindy Crawford, visited Presley's Los Angeles home before going to Kaia's residence. Presley Gerber, a model and the son of Crawford and Rande Gerber, died on September 20 at age 27. His death occurred while he was staying at a luxury rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica, California, from a suspected overdose. He had reportedly checked into the facility the day before his death.

Presley Gerber had been open about his struggles with drug addiction and mental health for a decade prior to his passing. Weeks before his death, Kaia Gerber spoke about the significant impact Presley's struggles had on their family, telling Vogue that such events "kind of levels everyone."

A source close to the family told the Daily Mail that Kaia was extremely close to her older brother and was left disheveled by his death. The insider described Gerber as a strong person who would persevere through the grief. According to other reports, Gerber had been staying home with her boyfriend, actor Lewis Pullman, by her side, experiencing total shock and eating little since learning of her brother's death.

"She was in total shock so it was a big emotional process just to come to the realization that she would never see her brother again," a source told the Daily Mail, adding that Gerber is "still struggling."

Last Sunday, Gerber was seen leaving a gym, an effort to return to some semblance of normalcy at her mother's encouragement. "She had a little cocoon there with friends stopping by. She tried her best to hold it together, but she was not eating much," the insider added.

The source also noted that Gerber "had no appetite, which is hard for her as she has said in the past she suffers from 'disordered eating.'" This referenced an August Vogue interview where she discussed her experiences with disordered eating after entering the public eye.

Gerber had reportedly been wearing sweats and had not styled her hair or nails. Her mother has encouraged her to maintain a routine to help cope with her grief, which is why Gerber attended the gym. In addition to Pullman, Gerber has also received support from friends and family, including actress Laura Dern and influencer Jake Shane. "Cindy and Rande have really been there for Kaia, as has George [Clooney]," the source said. "They are bending over backwards to make sure she is OK."
