Kaia Gerber spoke about her brother Presley Gerber's openness regarding his addiction and mental health struggles in an interview published one month before his death. Presley, the 27-year-old son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, died on Sunday at an undisclosed rehabilitation facility.

In an interview with Vogue for its September cover story, Kaia referred to her brother as her "greatest teacher" for demonstrating that "there’s only so much you can hide from the world." Presley had previously shared a since-deleted Instagram video in December 2025 detailing the depressant medications he was taking for panic attacks.

Kaia, 25, noted to Vogue that their parents, Crawford and Rande Gerber, maintained a high level of privacy throughout their lives. "When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone," Kaia reflected. "I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help."

She added, "It felt like too much to have two children who were needing." Kaia's comments suggested that Presley's struggles impacted the family dynamic, leading her to avoid seeking help herself.

Following the news of Presley's death, Kaia and her parents released a joint statement requesting privacy during their time of grief: "This is a very difficult and painful time."
