Kaia Gerber Finds Solace After Brother's Death, Leans on Family
Model Kaia Gerber has reportedly emerged from a period of intense grief following her brother Presley's passing, finding support in her family and boyfriend.
Kaia Gerber has begun to emerge from the "grief cocoon" she entered after the death of her brother, Presley Gerber, though she is reportedly still struggling with the loss. In the weeks following her brother's passing, Gerber remained at home with her boyfriend, actor Lewis Pullman, and friends visited her, creating a close circle of support.
A source close to the family told the Daily Mail that Gerber "tried her best to hold it together, but she was not eating much, she had no appetite," which is particularly difficult given her past struggles with disordered eating. The overwhelming grief led to a period of "total shock" as she grappled with the reality of her brother's absence.
Gerber was first spotted publicly on a Sunday, leaving a Los Angeles gym. This outing was reportedly encouraged by her mother, Cindy Crawford, as part of an effort to maintain some semblance of routine during her grieving process. The model had been spending her time in sweats, with her hair and nails left unstyled, reflecting her emotional state.
Throughout this difficult period, Gerber has relied heavily on her close-knit support system, including her parents, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, as well as Pullman, who has been described as her "rock." Other friends, like influencer Jake Shane, have also provided comfort, with Shane even assisting Gerber in finding her escaped cat after Presley's death.
Despite the profound grief, the source indicated that Gerber is expected to return to work soon. She is slated to star alongside Pullman in the upcoming thriller "Bulls," written and directed by James Morosini. Filming is anticipated to begin by the end of the year, with costume fittings scheduled for the following month. The insider noted that Pullman's presence as her co-star will provide continued support.
Presley Gerber, Kaia's only sibling, died on September 20th at the age of 27. Reports indicated he was found in a bedroom at a Santa Monica rehabilitation facility. According to 911 audio obtained by Page Six, Presley was treated for a suspected overdose after going into cardiac arrest. While an official cause of death has not been released, he had checked into a rehabilitation home for treatment that same weekend and was reportedly under the influence of a substance upon arrival. He had reportedly been prescribed ketamine by a doctor at the facility, despite having a history of issues with the drug.
Sources close to the family had previously emphasized the deep bond between Kaia and Presley, describing them as "way more than brother and sister" and like "best friends." The loss has been devastating for Kaia, with insiders expressing concern about how she would cope without him.
