Kai Trump Undergoes Wrist Surgery for Golf Injury
President Trump's granddaughter, a competitive golfer, shared an update on her recovery following a procedure for a golf-related injury.
Kai Trump, the 19-year-old granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, has undergone wrist surgery to repair an injury sustained during her first collegiate golf tournament. Trump, a member of the University of Miami Women’s Golf team, posted an update on Instagram from her hospital bed, indicating the procedure was successful.
She shared a selfie showing her left arm in a cast and sling, along with a statement about her decision to proceed with surgery. "While I had hoped to avoid surgery, after talks with my family, coaches and athletic training staff, I know I made the best decision for my long-term health and my future in the game I love," Trump stated.
Trump acknowledged that her recovery will require patience but expressed determination. "It’s certainly not how I envisioned the next few months, but sometimes the journey takes an unexpected turn, and I’m choosing to embrace this one with patience, and a whole lot of determination," she wrote. She also extended gratitude to her support system, including her teammates, coaches, family, and friends.
"Having the right people by your side makes all the difference, and I couldn’t be more grateful," she added. Trump also thanked the medical team at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City for their care.
"A special thank you to Dr. Carlson and the incredible team at HSS in New York for taking such great care of me, and to my teammates, coaches, family and everyone who has supported me along the way," she said. Trump concluded her message by focusing on healing and her anticipation of returning to the sport. "For now, it’s all about healing, and trusting the process. I can’t wait to be back with my team, doing what I love. I’ll be back before you know it, stronger and more grateful than ever! Go Canes!"
In a previous appearance on "Fox & Friends" in July, Trump mentioned having had wrist surgery six months prior. She also spoke about the nerves she felt regarding her freshman year and Division I golf career at the University of Miami, stating, "I'm a little nervous, I'm not gonna lie, but I'm ready for the next chapter."
