Kai Trump Undergoes Wrist Surgery After Injury Derails College Golf Season
University of Miami freshman golfer Kai Trump announced she had surgery to repair a wrist injury sustained in September, impacting her debut college season.
Kai Trump, a freshman golfer at the University of Miami, has undergone surgery to address a wrist injury that occurred in September, an injury that has disrupted her inaugural college golf season. Trump, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and former model Vanessa Trump, shared the news on Instagram from the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
"While I had hoped to avoid surgery, after talks with my family, coaches, and athletic training staff I know I made the best decision for my long-term health and my future in the game I love," Trump, 19, stated in her post. "It’s certainly not how I envisioned the next few months, but sometimes the journey takes an unexpected turn, and I’m choosing to embrace this one with patience, and a whole lot of determination."
She expressed gratitude for the support system around her, including her family, coaches, and teammates, and thanked Dr. Carlson and the staff at HSS. Trump's injury occurred during her first collegiate tournament. She had previously undergone surgery in January for injuries to her ECU tendon and triangular fibrocartilage complex.
"Recovery will take time, but I’m incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by amazing people who continue to lift me up, encourage me, and remind me that every challenge is an opportunity to grow. Having the right people by your side makes all the difference, and I couldn’t be more grateful," she added. "For now, it’s all about healing, and trusting the process. I can’t wait to be back with my team, doing what I love. I’ll be back before you know it, stronger and more grateful than ever! Go Canes!"
Trump did not provide a specific timeline for her recovery. She recently competed in a tournament in Muncie, Indiana, which featured three rounds over two days.
