Kai Trump Undergoes Second Wrist Surgery, Season on Hold

Kai Trump, a freshman on the University of Miami women's golf team and granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, has undergone a second surgery to repair a wrist injury, placing her collegiate golf season on hold. Trump announced the procedure on Instagram, sharing a photo from the hospital.

She sustained the injury in September, her first college tournament, and opted for surgery after consulting with her family, coaches, and athletic training staff. The procedure took place at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

"While I had hoped to avoid surgery, after talks with my family, coaches, and athletic training staff I know I made the best decision for my long-term health and my future in the game I love," Trump wrote in her Instagram post. "It’s certainly not how I envisioned the next few months, but sometimes the journey takes an unexpected turn, and I’m choosing to embrace this one with patience, and a whole lot of determination."

This is not the first time Trump has faced wrist issues. She previously had surgery on her left wrist in January to address injuries to stabilizing tissues and the triangular fibrocartilage complex. The recent surgery targets a recurring problem.

Trump played in a three-round tournament last week in Muncie, Indiana, which included a day with two rounds of play. Details regarding her recovery timeline were not provided, but she expressed gratitude for the support of Dr. Michelle G. Carlson, a hand and upper extremity specialist, along with her teammates, coaches, and family.

"Recovery will take time, but I’m incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by amazing people who continue to lift me up, encourage me, and remind me that every challenge is an opportunity to grow," her post continued. "Having the right people by your side makes all the difference, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

"For now, it’s all about healing, and trusting the process. I can’t wait to be back with my team, doing what I love. I’ll be back before you know it, stronger and more grateful than ever! Go Canes!"
