Kai Trump's College Golf Debut Halted by Wrist Injury

Kai Trump, granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, experienced an early setback in her collegiate golf career due to a wrist injury sustained during her debut tournament for the University of Miami. The 19-year-old freshman revealed the details of the injury in a recent YouTube vlog.

The injury occurred during the Golfweek Fall Challenge when Trump struck a hard surface hidden beneath the ground while attempting a shot near a cart path. "I kinda had an injury to my wrist during the tournament, my first college tournament," Trump shared, describing the impact as a "shock on my arm."

Later in the same round, while using her driver, she felt a recurrence of the pain, which she described as feeling like she "tore it again." Subsequent medical examinations revealed damage to her cartilage and ligaments, though not a complete tear. To expedite recovery and minimize time away from playing, Trump is undergoing stem cell injections administered by pain management specialist Dr. Jeffrey Wiegers.

The injury significantly affected her performance at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, where she finished tied for 102nd place in a field of 120 competitors.

This physical setback follows an emotionally taxing period for Trump as she transitioned to college life. She had verbally committed to the University of Miami in August 2024 and began her freshman year in late August. In a previous vlog, she documented her tearful goodbyes to family and friends before departing for school. "It's just really sad that I have to say goodbye to everyone today," she stated in the video, expressing her uncharacteristic emotional response to leaving home. "I think knowing that I have to say goodbye to everyone tonight really, really sucks," she admitted, while also acknowledging excitement for her new chapter. The vlog also showed her spending time with friends before her arrival at her Miami dorm.
