Kai Trump, granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, expressed a mix of nerves and readiness as she prepares to begin her freshman year and collegiate golf career at the University of Miami. In a recent interview on "Fox & Friends," Trump, 19, said she credits her grandfather for fostering the "competitive edge" that has driven her success in golf and her burgeoning social media presence.

"[I'm] a little nervous, I'm not gonna lie, but I'm ready for the next chapter," Trump stated. She also noted her proximity to her siblings, living about an hour and a half away from them.

During the interview, Trump touched on balancing her athletic pursuits with her growing social media career and her apparel business. She is also recovering from wrist surgery. The interview also provided an update on her mother, Vanessa Trump, who is reportedly "doing better" following a breast cancer diagnosis.

When asked about the source of her competitive drive, Trump pointed to both her mother and her grandfather. "My mom's competitive, too, but definitely grandpa's very competitive," she said, reinforcing that sentiment when asked what motivates her. "Probably grandpa."

Trump will be one of two freshmen on the University of Miami's golf team. She has previously spoken about navigating life within the Trump family while forging her own path, and has indicated no interest in pursuing a political career herself.

Kai Trump stands at the ESPYS in New York.
