Mina Chan, a 26-year-old social media influencer, died by suicide on August 5 during a TikTok livestream, according to South Korean news agency Yonhap. Chan, who was based in South Korea and of Japanese nationality, was a prominent figure in the fandom of the K-pop group ENHYPEN, operating under the online handle sweeter_nk.

In the days leading up to her death, Chan reportedly faced backlash from the fandom for actions she took at an ENHYPEN concert in the United States in late July. She had attempted to have band member Sunoo pass flowers to Ni-ki, the group's Japanese member, a move that fans perceived as an attempt to overshadow the event and draw attention to herself.

Following the incident, Chan posted an apology on X, formerly Twitter. In the statement, she expressed regret for her actions, acknowledging that she may have taken advantage of Sunoo's kindness and had deluded herself into believing she was closer to the members than she actually was. She also apologized for prioritizing her desire to interact with Ni-ki over his time and for disrupting the concert atmosphere.

An account believed to be Chan's younger sister confirmed her death on August 6 via an Instagram Story, stating, "My beloved older sister, who was always kind and warm to everyone she met, has passed away." The sister requested privacy and asked for thoughts and prayers for Chan. The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul is reportedly investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

Fans have shared condolences on Chan's social media posts, with many expressing sadness and stating that she did not deserve the harassment she faced. Online comments reflect a sentiment of peace for Chan and sympathy for her family and friends.
