Xavier Trudeau, 18, the eldest son of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has shared a video on social media that features his father and pop star Katy Perry reacting to his new single, "Downtown." The clip, shared this past weekend, shows the elder Trudeau and Perry in a Canadian hardware store when the song begins playing.

In the video, Perry zooms in on a store speaker as Xavier, who is pursuing a career in music and modeling, captions the moment, "My new single DOWNTOWN reaction video." The prime minister then appears, dancing down an aisle with a large plunger and sunglasses, while Perry is seen at the end of the clip, dancing and holding the camera. Xavier added text indicating the song is available on all streaming platforms.

Xavier Trudeau is one of three children Justin Trudeau shares with his ex-wife, Sophie Grégoire. He has spoken previously about the pressure of his family's fame and his desire to forge his own path. "Building a new name for myself and being my own man was a super important thing," he told GQ in a recent interview.

Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry have been publicly linked for over a year, with their relationship first sparking rumors in July of the previous year. They made their relationship Instagram official in December and have since attended events together, including a red carpet debut at the Tribeca Festival. Perry has described herself as feeling "very in love" and "anchored" by the relationship.

Trudeau's personal life has also included his separation from Sophie Grégoire, announced in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage. They share three children: Xavier, Ella-Grace, 17, and Hadrien, 12. Perry was previously in a long-term relationship with Orlando Bloom, with whom she has a daughter, Daisy. They co-parent their child and have maintained a friendly relationship.
