A source close to the artist told Page Six that Bieber's appearance was intended to provide not only music but also essential resources such as food and clothing.
The performance, captured and shared on social media, showed Bieber engaging with attendees, singing songs from his discography, and playing a cajón. He also took time to interact with fans, including taking selfies and wishing one individual a happy birthday.
MacArthur Park has been a focal point for local authorities aiming to address issues of crime, drug use, and sanitation. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman had recently hosted a picnic in the park to highlight efforts to improve the area. This is not Bieber's first engagement with the park; in 2021, he performed at the MacArthur Park Visual and Performing Arts Elementary School.
This philanthropic effort follows a series of public performances by Bieber, including a set at the 2026 FIFA World Cup halftime show and a headline performance at Coachella earlier in the year. Bieber has a history of charitable work, notably partnering with Alexandria House, a women's and children's shelter, in 2020.
