Jury Sees Texts, Receipts in Beau Lamarre-Condon Double Murder Trial
Evidence presented includes text messages between the accused and victim, social media posts, and numerous receipts for tools and cleaning supplies.
Jurors in the double murder trial of Beau Lamarre-Condon have been presented with extensive evidence detailing his interactions with Jesse Baird, prior to the alleged murders of Baird and his boyfriend Luke Davies. The evidence, released by the NSW Supreme Court, includes text messages, social media activity, and numerous purchase receipts.
In Facebook messages from late 2023, Baird is shown confronting Lamarre-Condon, who was a police officer, about alleged dishonesty. Baird expressed hurt and accused Lamarre-Condon of lying about accessing his phone and posting Instagram stories to a "close friends" list that suggested they were dating. Baird stated he felt it was "best if we focus on ourselves and stop seeing each other" and requested Lamarre-Condon refrain from contacting him.
Lamarre-Condon, in response, reportedly stated he was "literally sitting here in tears" and denied the accusations. Court evidence indicated that Lamarre-Condon had posted Instagram stories, visible only to his "close friends," which falsely implied a romantic relationship with Baird, including shared concert attendance and Baird buying him flowers.
Evidence also includes receipts detailing over $1700 in purchases made by Lamarre-Condon at stores like Bunnings, Decathlon, and Kmart between February 17 and February 22, encompassing the period before and after the alleged murders on February 19. The items purchased included a wheelbarrow, angle grinder, shovel, concrete mix, tarpaulins, cleaning supplies, gloves, garbage bags, a drill, work pants, gumboots, a high-visibility hoodie, dust masks, bath towels, adhesive hooks, buckets, a yellow high-vis shirt, coveralls, a chainsaw, a battery charger, and weights.
Specifically, receipts show Lamarre-Condon made multiple visits to a Bunnings store in Alexandria on February 19, the day of the alleged murders. He purchased tool bags, buckets, mops, gloves, tape, cleaning cloths, cable ties, bleach spray, garbage bags, tarpaulins, scissors, and craft paint. Further purchases of a drill, tradie pants, gumboots, a hoodie, and dust masks were made the following morning. Subsequent purchases at Bunnings stores in Rockdale and Goulburn, as well as Kmart, continued in the days following the alleged killings. Two purchases at Decathlon for surfboard bags were also presented as evidence.
Prosecutors allege Lamarre-Condon was "obsessed" with Baird following the end of their on-off relationship in September 2023. Lamarre-Condon allegedly dressed as an Uber Eats driver to gain entry to Baird's home on February 19, where Baird was shot twice and Davies once. Lamarre-Condon has pleaded not guilty to two counts of domestic violence-related murder, claiming self-defense. He has also pleaded not guilty to aggravated breaking and entering after allegedly stealing Baird's phone and wallet in August 2023.
The criminal trial is expected to continue for 60 days in the NSW Supreme Court. The remains of Baird and Davies were discovered eight days after their deaths, allegedly dumped in surfboard bags along a fence line near Goulburn.
