Jurors deliberated Tuesday in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, a Massachusetts mother accused of killing her three young children in January 2023. The jury was sent home for the day without reaching a verdict.
Clancy has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder. Her defense attorney contends that she was experiencing postpartum psychosis when she strangled her children and subsequently attempted suicide. Prosecutors, however, argue that Clancy is criminally responsible for the deaths of her children.
If found guilty, Clancy faces a potential sentence of life in prison without parole. Alternatively, if a jury finds her not criminally responsible for the murder charges, she would be committed to a state mental health facility.
