The jury in the triple murder trial of Lindsay Clancy failed to reach a verdict on their sixth day of deliberations on Tuesday.
Clancy's defense attorney requested the judge remove a juror after the jury foreperson sent a note to the court stating that one holdout juror was unwilling to follow the judge's instructions regarding reasonable doubt. The judge denied the defense's request.
The jury is scheduled to resume deliberations for a seventh day.
Lindsay Clancy faces charges in connection with the deaths of her three young children in January 2023. Prosecutors allege she intentionally caused their deaths by strangulation and suffocation. The defense has argued that Clancy was experiencing a "perpetrator of the deed" delusion due to severe postpartum mental illness at the time of the incident. The trial has focused heavily on Clancy's mental state and the interpretation of reasonable doubt in the context of her alleged mental health struggles.
