Juror's Attorney Denies Holdout Refused to Follow Law in Clancy Mistrial

The attorney for the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial has refuted claims that his client refused to follow the law, asserting that the juror had no doubt in his decision. Edward Paltzik, speaking to Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany, stated that juror Michael P. Desronvil possessed "zero doubt" and a "mountain of evidence" to support his position.

Desronvil was the sole juror not prepared to find the former labor and delivery nurse not criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children. Following seven days of deliberations, eleven jurors were in favor of an acquittal on criminal responsibility grounds, while Desronvil maintained his vote for conviction. The jury foreperson had previously sent a note to the judge indicating that Desronvil was refusing to adhere to the legal standard of reasonable doubt.

Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on September 4. Clancy has admitted to killing her children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan, at their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023. Her defense team argued that she was not criminally responsible due to postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors contended that she understood her actions and planned the killings.

Desronvil reportedly stated that he believed the physical evidence and witness testimony demonstrated that Clancy was aware of her actions. Prosecutors have not yet disclosed whether they intend to retry Clancy, who is scheduled to return to court on September 29. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington has declined to comment on the accusations against Desronvil.
