A juror who served on the panel for the Lindsay Clancy murder trial had publicly supported Karen Read, who faced charges in the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend, according to unearthed social media posts. Three women who were part of the 12-person jury that ultimately resulted in a mistrial in Clancy's case spoke to NBC Boston about their deliberations. One of these jurors, identified as Kellie Farina, had actively participated in an online group called 'Free Karen Read' and expressed strong opinions about Read's trial.

Farina's resurfaced Facebook posts indicated she was an "adamant supporter" of Read during her 2025 murder trial. On the day of Read's acquittal, Farina reportedly wrote, "Over and Out Page. Massachusetts Jury did their rightful duty today. Karen's free." The posts also showed criticism directed at the former state trooper Michael Proctor, who was the lead investigator in the Read case, and special prosecutor Hank Brennan.

Read was accused of killing her former boyfriend, John O'Keefe, by backing her SUV into him and leaving him to die on a snowy lawn in January 2022. She maintained her innocence, claiming she was framed. Read's first trial ended in a hung jury, and she was acquitted in her second trial after jurors cited "sloppy investigation" and reasonable doubt. Proctor was later fired for misconduct, including sending text messages critical of Read.

Another point of contention in the Read trial involved a federal agent who admitted to destroying his phone and SIM card after an event at the house where O'Keefe died. Farina's posts in the 'Free Karen Read' group echoed theories that Read was framed by law enforcement, claims that remain unproven.

Clancy, 36, was on trial for the murders of her three young children, Cora, five, Dawson, three, and Callan, eight months, at their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023. She admitted to strangling the children but pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, attributing her actions to postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors argued the killings were intentional, while the defense focused on her mental state.

During the Clancy trial's deliberations, which lasted over 37 hours, the jury reportedly struggled with reaching a unanimous verdict. A single juror's refusal to acquit, despite alleged reasonable doubt, led the judge to declare a mistrial. The jurors were not sequestered during deliberations.

In her post-trial interview, Farina described the prosecution's approach as lacking compassion. She also spoke about the profound impact of the 911 call made by Clancy's husband upon discovering the children. Farina characterized the call as "the most horrific thing" and revealed that the jury replayed it during deliberations, becoming emotional.
