Juliet Mayhew, known for her role on "The Real Housewives of London," has made a dramatic shift from reality television drama to the Broadway stage with a surprise cameo in the musical comedy "Titanique." The show, which draws heavily from the music of Celine Dion, provided Mayhew with what she described as a "wonderfully bonkers, full-circle moment."
Mayhew, a professionally trained actor, singer, and dancer, saw the opportunity to perform on Broadway as a dream come true. The engagement stemmed from an invitation to appear in the London production of "Titanique." After a series of delays, the chance eventually materialized on Broadway.
"Broadway has always been a dream, so the thought of actually stepping onto that stage was incredibly exciting and surreal," Mayhew told Page Six's "Virtual Reali-Tea." She embraced the role with flair, donning a custom costume that included a nearly meter-long Titanic-inspired hat.
"It took two people to get me into the outfit. The waist was snatched! I could barely breathe, but darling, apparently that is the price of Broadway!" Mayhew explained. "I'm Australian. We don't take ourselves too seriously. Go big or go home, mate!"
Mayhew's performance was deeply personal, marking a return to a career path she pursued long before reality television. She trained at institutions including ArtsEd Tring, London Studio Centre, and NIDA in Australia. "Being on Broadway was a dream come true," she stated. "It felt like coming home to a part of myself that had been there all along."
Her extensive training allowed her to seamlessly step back into performing, singing, dancing, and improvising on stage. "The second I was out there, I was completely in my element," she recalled. Mayhew found that her experience on "Real Housewives" had prepared her for live theater, teaching her to react and adapt to unexpected moments.
"Broadway might actually be the calmer option!" she quipped, comparing the spontaneity of live theater to the unscripted nature of reality television.
During her visit to New York City, Mayhew also connected with "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" stars Sutton Stracke, Erika Jayne, and Tracy Tutor, who were in town for New York Fashion Week. Mayhew and Stracke, both trained dancers, found common ground, with Mayhew even suggesting Stracke would excel on the Broadway stage.
Mayhew's cameo in "Titanique" concluded on September 20. "The Real Housewives of London" airs Tuesdays on Bravo and streams on Peacock. For her Broadway debut, Mayhew chose Celine Dion's "The Power of Love" as her soundtrack, calling it a song that resonates with her deeply. "Celine doesn't merely sing a love song. She launches it into another stratosphere!" Mayhew said. "Which, come to think of it, is probably rather appropriate for me!"
