Julie Stewart-Binks, Former Fox Sports Reporter, Reveals Skin Cancer Diagnosis

SNY broadcaster Julie Stewart-Binks announced she has been diagnosed with skin cancer, a condition that led to a recent absence from television.

Stewart-Binks, a journalist with previous stints at ESPN, Barstool Sports, and Fox Sports, underwent Mohs surgery to remove squamous cell carcinoma from her nose. She initially mistook the growth for a persistent pimple.

"I thought it was a pimple that wouldn't go away, turns out it was cancer," Stewart-Binks wrote. "I share this so that hopefully it inspires others to get checked is something feels/looks off."

The procedure successfully removed all cancerous cells. As part of the reconstruction, doctors grafted a portion of her ear onto her nose. Stewart-Binks humorously compared the experience to her lifelong involvement in hockey, stating, "I've played hockey my entire life, but never felt more like a hockey player than I do now. Sew me up and put me in coach."

Stewart-Binks, originally from Toronto, covered NHL teams such as the Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks before moving to Fox Sports 1. She has since worked with ESPN, Barstool TV, and Fubo TV, and most recently served as a rinkside reporter for TNT during the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs. She currently hosts Honda SportsNite on SNY and contributes to the network's hockey coverage.

In a separate matter, Stewart-Binks filed a lawsuit in January 2025 against Fox Sports and former executive Charlie Dixon, alleging an incident in 2016 where Dixon allegedly pushed her against a wall and forcibly kissed her. Dixon denied the allegations. Stewart-Binks later requested the suit be dismissed, stating the "matter has been resolved."
