Julie Andrews Spotted in Rare Public Appearance

Julie Andrews, 91, was seen for the first time in months during a rare outing in the Hamptons. The “Sound of Music” star was photographed being helped out of a vehicle last Friday, according to photos obtained by Page Six.

Andrews dressed casually for the occasion, wearing a lilac-colored jacket and a white baseball cap, paired with pink-shaded sunglasses.

This sighting marks the first time the Oscar winner has been seen publicly since announcing she would be reducing her on-camera work after nearly eight decades in the industry. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in August, Andrews stated, “I’m not completely retired, but it’s a different kind of work that I do these days — [writing] books, and I do a lot of recording of podcasts and voiceovers.”

In the same interview, Andrews confirmed she would not be participating in the third installment of “The Princess Diaries,” explaining, “I think the absolute truth is that I think I’m really past all that now. It isn’t that I’m not enthusiastic for it. It’s just that I really don’t feel I should be part of it now.” In the 2001 film, Andrews portrayed Queen Clarisse Renaldi, the grandmother of Mia Thermopolis, played by Anne Hathaway.

Earlier this year, Hathaway mentioned that the script for the third “Princess Diaries” film was still in development.
