Gold Logie nominee Julia Morris has endorsed her former "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! Australia" co-host Robert Irwin as the most deserving recipient of the coveted Australian television award.

Morris, who is nominated for her fifth Gold Logie, stated that she believes Irwin represents "the future of television." She highlighted Irwin's performance during their tenure on "I'm A Celebrity," which was officially axed by Channel 10 in May.

"I think the best idea is to give it to someone else. And when I say someone else, obviously I mean Robert," Morris told Stellar magazine. "No-one needs to be worried about the future if we've got young people like Robert coming through. I think we're gonna be fine."

Morris also shared her lingering disbelief over the cancellation of "I'm A Celebrity." "The problem with the jungle is it was such an exquisite experience that it's still ricocheting around our nervous systems to the point where… it's not that we haven't accepted that we're more than likely not going back," she said. "Our bodies refuse to accept it. I've practically already got the bags out."

Morris and Irwin are among the nominees for the Gold Logie, which will be presented at Sydney's The Star on Sunday, August 16. Other nominees include Sam Pang, Lisa Millar, Poh Ling Yeow, Ally Langdon, and Todd Woodbridge.

At the Logie nominations event, Morris made a memorable appearance by bringing a life-sized cardboard cut-out of Irwin, who was absent due to family commitments. The cut-out was dressed in Irwin's signature Australia Zoo khaki uniform and featured a snake, prompting double-takes from attendees.

Reflecting on the end of "I'm A Celebrity," Morris described it as "the end of an era." She expressed gratitude for her time on the show, stating, "that jungle saved my life on so many different levels. How could I not be anything but grateful?"

Channel 10's decision to rest "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!" in 2027 was announced in May, with a spokesperson citing a focus on a "range of content on all platforms."

Voting for the 66th TV WEEK Logie Awards opens on Monday, June 22, and closes on Saturday, August 15. The ceremony will be broadcast on Seven and 7Plus.
