Julia Child's Former Cambridge Home Lists for $6.4 Million

Julia Child’s former home in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she resided for 40 years and filmed episodes of her famed television series "The French Chef," has been listed for $6,475,000.

The 1889-built, six-bedroom residence at 103 Irving Street spans 6,321 square feet and is situated near Harvard Square.

Ed Feijo of Coldwell Banker Realty, who is co-listing the property with Gail Roberts, described the house as a "garden-style house" set in the middle of its lot, offering garden views from every room. The property has been updated since Child's residency.

Child lived in the home until 2001 before moving to California. She subsequently donated her house and office to Smith College, which later sold it. While several of her television programs, including "Baking with Julia," were filmed at the Cambridge home, her original kitchen was donated to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.

The house features hardwood floors, wainscoting, a bay window with built-in seating, French doors, and four fireplaces. A grand foyer leads to the living and family rooms. The kitchen has been renovated with Poggenpohl cabinetry, marble countertops, dual dishwashers, and a butler's pantry.
