Comedian Judith Lucy has humorously bid farewell to her breasts ahead of undergoing a double mastectomy, a procedure she was scheduled for on Friday after a breast cancer diagnosis. The 58-year-old posted a photo of her cleavage on Instagram with the caption, "So long ladies!"

Lucy reflected on her relationship with her breasts, acknowledging their prominent role during her early comedy career. "People don't yell out, 'Show us your t*ts' at comedy gigs anymore but they sure did when I was starting out," she wrote, adding that the accompanying photo was nearly 29 years old but highlighted their size. "Jesus, if someone had thrown me in a pool, I wouldn't have needed floaties."

In an interview last week, Lucy stated that her breasts' absence would be "a shock" and would necessitate a wardrobe overhaul. However, she confirmed she would not be opting for reconstruction. "It's incredibly weird. It's gonna be surreal when I wake up on Friday and my ladies are no longer with me. I love my ladies," she told ABC Melbourne radio.

She recalled a text from a fellow comedian calling them "Comedy's greatest breasts." Lucy noted that while she might have made a different decision if she were younger, she anticipates a less extensive recovery time without reconstruction. "I think I'm pretty happy with that decision," she said, adding that she had "40 great years" with them and felt she could accept their removal.

Days prior, Lucy had shared a hospital photo on Facebook from the moment she learned of her diagnosis. Wrapped in a dressing gown, she captioned the image, "Fun with cancer!" to demonstrate her enduring sense of humor.

Lucy announced her diagnosis earlier this month, explaining in an Instagram video that the cancer was discovered following a mammogram. She urged women to prioritize regular screenings: "On my way home, I got an email from BreastScreen Australia telling me that my mammogram result was a bit weird... ladies, for the love of god, keep up with your mammograms."

Initially expecting a lumpectomy, further cancer was found during a subsequent appointment, leading to the adjusted treatment plan for a double mastectomy. Lucy had previously joked about enjoying "40 years of large and spectacular breasts" and looked forward to a bra-free future. "You had your chance fellas," she quipped. "So I think I'm quite fine with going bra-free for my last chapter, and my last chapter is going to be very long and healthy."
