A judge has rejected former President Donald Trump's attempt to move his criminal hush money case to federal court. Trump was seeking to have the New York state charges, which relate to a $130,000 payment made to Stormy Daniels, heard in the federal system. His defense argued that the actions leading to the charges occurred while he was acting as president and in the course of his official duties.

Trump was convicted in May of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in connection with the hush money payment made during the 2016 presidential campaign. The case was prosecuted in Manhattan Criminal Court.
