Judge Allows Release of Alleged Josh Jacobs Attack Video

A Brown County, Wisconsin judge has ruled against sealing evidence in the battery case involving Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs, a decision that could lead to the public release of video footage allegedly depicting the NFL player assaulting his former girlfriend. The ruling places the decision on whether to release the evidence in the hands of the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department.

According to reports, any new requests for the records will be handled by the police department, which will then determine if it is appropriate to release them. Both the alleged victim and Jacobs would be given an opportunity to present their case if the department decides to move forward with disclosure.

Jacobs was charged with one count of battery and one count of criminal damage to property following an incident in May. Prosecutors allege that Jacobs threw a woman to the ground and later damaged her phone. Surveillance cameras reportedly captured parts of the altercation.

Following his no-contest plea to the charges on September 10, the video was expected to become publicly accessible through standard record requests. However, on September 15, the woman identified as "ANM" petitioned the court to seal the evidence, citing concerns for her privacy, dignity, and safety. Her legal team argued that public disclosure could cause irreparable harm that cannot be fully remedied.

Jacobs has been on the commissioner's exempt list since August, preventing him from practicing or playing for the Packers. His legal team has not commented on the latest ruling.
