Joy Behar, 84, returned to her seat on The View on Tuesday morning after a month away due to a shoulder injury. She was greeted with applause and music as she walked onto the set arm-in-arm with co-host Sara Haines.
Behar had dislocated her shoulder in the studio at the beginning of October. "I mean, I went down hard, in this building. I dislocated my shoulder," Behar told the audience upon her return. "I don’t know if that’s ever happened to anybody, but it’s worse than childbirth. I mean, I would have given up names to the CIA, that kind of torture, it was bad."
Haines guided Behar to her spot at the Hot Topics table, and the audience cheered as Elton John's "The B***h is Back" played. Co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Sunny Hostin offered a warm welcome back.
Behar expressed regret for missing discussions on recent events, including remarks made by President Donald Trump regarding Nicki Minaj. "Even when I went down and went to hospital, the doctor didn't even look at my a** like that, with such love and affection," Behar joked, referencing Minaj's appearance at a recent Trump campaign rally.
Minaj had expressed strong support for Trump at the rally, stating, "President Trump, it is an honor to stand with you every single time, and I will continue to support you forever and ever." Trump, in turn, commented on Minaj's appearance, saying she had "beautiful a**." He encouraged her to "stand up" and show it off.
Goldberg remarked on Behar's absence, noting, "we're together a lot, and so when one of us is not around, you feel it." Haines echoed this sentiment, comparing the panel to a family that navigates life's "ups and downs" together.
Behar's representative had previously informed Page Six that "Joy caught a heel backstage but is on the mend and should be back on the show mid next week." The representative confirmed her shoulder was not broken and had been put back in place, with Behar eager to return as soon as possible.
During Behar's absence, Goldberg had mentioned her injury, saying, "Despite sharing a birthday with Vladimir Putin, she does not have the Russian plague. She's still healing after dislocating her shoulder." Goldberg had also expressed wishes for Behar's swift recovery so she could celebrate her birthday on air.
