Joy Behar, a co-host on "The View," was questioned by show producer Brian Teta on Tuesday regarding her expressed frustration with voters who supported former President Donald Trump. The discussion occurred during the "Behind the Table" podcast and touched upon her defense of backing candidates with perceived flaws.

Behar invoked the late Democratic Sen. Ted Kennedy and the Chappaquiddick incident, arguing that voters supported him because he "voted correctly" on issues like women's rights, despite his personal scandal. "Unfortunately, this is the world we live in," she stated. Teta countered by noting Behar's long-standing frustration with those who overlooked actions by Trump that she found objectionable. He pointed out that voters supported Trump for reasons such as judicial appointments or tax cuts.

Behar acknowledged the situation as "difficult." The conversation drew parallels to a 2016 "The View" discussion where Behar used the Kennedy example to explain her rationale for supporting then-candidate Bill Clinton, stating she would vote for him because his policies aligned with her interests, even if she viewed him negatively personally.

During the same podcast episode, co-host Sunny Hostin discussed the allegations against Graham Platner, a candidate facing calls to withdraw from a Senate race. Hostin initially stated that she would have supported Platner, despite having previously labeled him as racist, a homophobe, and an antisemite, citing what she described as an "existential crisis" in the country and a need for Democrats to regain Senate control. She suggested that Republicans often fall in line with their party rather than prioritizing personal affinity with candidates.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin questioned Hostin on whether she felt comfortable voting for Platner under such circumstances. Co-host Sara Haines suggested that people supporting candidates solely based on party affiliation were part of the problem. Hostin then acknowledged herself as one of those people. She later agreed with other co-hosts that Platner should exit the race.
