Joy Behar Invites Trump to 'The View' While Questioning His Health, White House Responds
The talk show host's comments and the subsequent retort from Trump's team highlight ongoing political tensions.
Joy Behar, a co-host on "The View," has extended an invitation to former President Donald Trump to appear on the show, despite recently expressing concerns about his health, stating he is "not long for this world." The remarks, made in an interview with New York Magazine, have drawn a sharp response from a White House spokesperson.
Behar, who has publicly stated her desire to see Trump removed from office, reflected on her history with the president. "I’d love Donald Trump to take the heat," she said, adding, "You know Trump is not long for this world. He seems ill. He does not seem like he’s well."
A White House spokesperson addressed Behar's comments on Trump's well-being, stating, "‘Joyless’ Behar is an extremely unlikeable, talentless hack with a poorly rated TV show who clearly suffers from a severe and incurable disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome." The spokesperson added, "I lose braincells every single time I have the displeasure of hearing her speak."
This is not the first time Behar has questioned Trump's health. Last month, she argued that the media scrutinizes Trump's health less than it did that of former President Joe Biden. Despite their current political differences, Behar and Trump have a shared history predating his presidency. Trump made numerous appearances on "The View" before entering politics, and Behar attended his 1993 wedding to Marla Maples.
Behar described Trump's humor as having changed significantly since she knew him as a New York celebrity. "I knew him when he was just an annoying New York figure," she said. "Back then, he had a sense of humor that was not as bizarre as it is now. Now his sense of humor is making fun of handicapped people."
Behar also recalled an instance where Trump suggested he would date his daughter Ivanka if they were not related, a comment she compared to Woody Allen. "He actually thought that was funny," Behar stated.
In the past, Behar has characterized Trump as "much more dangerous" than during his first term and has advocated for the invocation of the 25th Amendment, asserting he is "destroying the United States of America."
