Joy Behar Dislocates Shoulder, Misses 'The View'

Joy Behar missed Thursday’s episode of “The View” after sustaining a dislocated shoulder from an on-set injury, her representative confirmed to Page Six. The 83-year-old comedian is on the mend and is anticipated to rejoin her co-hosts by mid-next week.

“Her shoulder wasn’t broken and is back in place and she is excited to be back at the table as quickly as possible,” Behar’s rep stated. “Joy caught a heel backstage but is on the mend and should be back on the show mid next week.”

Co-host Sunny Hostin informed the audience of Behar’s absence at the start of the show, explaining that while moderator Whoopi Goldberg was away filming a movie, Behar had “unfortunately… dislocated her shoulder.”

Hostin, who was joined at the table by Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and guest host Sherri Shepherd, joked that she was placed in the moderator's seat because she is the “next oldest” or “seasoned” host.

Behar, a staple on “The View” since its 1997 premiere with a brief two-season absence, had previously taken a two-week break in June to focus on her play, “My First Ex-Husband,” which debuted Off-Broadway in February 2025 before traveling to London. At the time, Behar clarified that the absence was not a hiatus but rather time dedicated to her theatrical work.

She shared on the “Behind the Table” podcast in May that her itinerary included visiting Paris to write and explore exhibits before heading to London. Upon her return to the show on June 16, Behar reported that her play was well-received in the UK, remarking on the universal themes of marriage and divorce, and calling the experience “great.”
