Joy Behar, co-host of "The View," has responded to speculation that she appears drunk on air, stating that her recent dizzy spells are due to cosmetic treatments and weight loss medication. Behar, 83, shared on the July 6 broadcast that she experiences dizziness when she walks and acknowledged that her gait might appear unsteady.
"I walk like I'm drunk? I'm not drinking, I don't drink," Behar stated on the show. Her co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, added that Behar occasionally requires assistance to reach her seat on set. Behar humorously attributed her symptoms to a combination of Botox, Ozempic, and acupuncture, joking about being "full of needles."
Behar previously revealed in February that she had lost 25 pounds using a GLP-1 medication. The discussion about weight loss drugs like Ozempic arose when guest host Savannah Chrisley brought up the associated stigma. Chrisley shared that she used the medication for pre-diabetic reasons, and Whoopi Goldberg mentioned using it to manage her weight, stating she was "almost 300 pounds" prior.
Behar also addressed public perception of her appearance in a May episode of the "Behind the Table" podcast. She denied having a facelift but confirmed undergoing cosmetic injections, including Botox and fillers. She also discussed maintaining her signature red bob hairstyle with keratin treatments, dyes, and highlights.
"Everybody thinks you look good because you’re naturally that good, you’re not," Behar said on the podcast, referencing the effort involved in maintaining her appearance. She added that she does not adhere to diet or exercise recommendations, preferring to avoid them.
Behar's comments about her dizziness come amid recent commentary from former co-host Meghan McCain, who criticized the current "The View" hosts after an interview with Vice President JD Vance. McCain, who was a co-host from 2017 to 2021, described the show as a "toxic work environment" in her memoir and has publicly critiqued the panel's interviewing style.
