Journey Drummer Deen Castronovo Hospitalized After Medical Emergency Onstage
The legendary rock band's concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was interrupted after the second song.
Journey drummer Deen Castronovo was hospitalized Thursday night after experiencing a medical emergency during a concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The incident occurred at the BOK Center shortly after the band had performed their second song.
Keyboardist Jonathan Cain addressed the audience, asking them to keep Castronovo in their prayers and stating the band would see how the situation progressed. "It's an unfortunate situation. We're very sorry. We're hoping it's only a delay, but please -- I'm sorry. Don't worry. Have your prayers ready. Have your prayers ready for Deen Castronovo, everybody. Thank you," Cain said, according to Tulsa World.
Approximately ten minutes later, guitarist Neal Schon informed the crowd that Castronovo had been transported to the hospital. Drum technician Steve Toomey stepped in to perform drumming duties for the remainder of the show.
Later in the concert, Schon offered a positive update, telling the audience, "This concert is for Deen. I think he’s going to be fine."
No further details regarding Castronovo's condition have been released.
