Television personality Josie Gibson has revealed her use of a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber to aid recovery following liposuction on her arms and calves. Gibson, 41, rented a specialized chamber for £500 per month, utilizing it for 90-minute sessions to promote healing.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber, which aims to increase blood oxygen levels and accelerate tissue repair by stimulating the growth of new skin, blood vessels, and connective tissues.

Gibson has been undergoing treatment for lipoedema, a medical condition characterized by an abnormal, symmetrical buildup of adipose tissue, primarily affecting the legs, buttocks, hips, and arms. She has previously undergone liposuction totaling £7,000 on her arms and calves over the past year. In March, she shared that she had 45% of her arm removed in a brachioplasty, a procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the upper arm.

"Experts say it's where your body holds on to fat," Gibson explained about lipoedema. "You swell up a lot and you can't really out-train it. If I had been out working all day, my legs would be like a balloon. I was always having to wear compression pants. And if I hadn't got hold of it now, it would have got worse."

She described the rental of the hyperbaric chamber, Oxydise, as "pricey" but beneficial for healing. Gibson also shared other wellness practices, including a focus on working out, taking collagen supplements and electrolytes, and undergoing lymphatic drainage. She has also incorporated NAD+ and glutathione injectables, intended for anti-aging and to support post-operative healing.

Gibson also noted building her own copper pyramid triangle, a tool sometimes used for meditation and energy healing.

A brachioplasty, or arm lift, is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the upper arm. It typically takes one to two hours under general anesthesia and usually results in a scar along the inner arm. Recovery commonly takes one to two weeks, with restrictions on heavy lifting for four to six weeks.

Gibson has stated that she felt "gross whenever I was in like a vest top" due to the condition and wanted to feel more comfortable in summer clothing. Despite the recovery period, which she described as having stopped her in her tracks and limited simple activities like taking out the bins, she expressed satisfaction with having undergone the procedures. She noted that she experienced no pain and is considered a fast healer.
