Josie Gibson Updates Fans on Arm Lift Scars, Reveals Plans for Further Leg Surgeries
The 'This Morning' presenter shared her post-surgery progress and discussed her ongoing battle with lipoedema.
Josie Gibson has shared an update on her recovery following an arm lift surgery, a procedure she underwent in March as part of her ongoing battle with lipoedema. The presenter, 41, posted a video on Instagram detailing her experience and showcasing the current appearance of her arms.
Gibson described the scars from the brachioplasty, or arm lift, procedure, stating that while some might find them "horrific," she considers the surgery "the best thing she's ever done for herself." She shared before-and-after images, highlighting the transformation. The presenter also revealed plans for additional surgeries on her legs.
Lipoedema is a chronic condition characterized by the abnormal, symmetrical accumulation of fat and fluid, predominantly in the legs, hips, and buttocks, and sometimes the upper arms. There is no known cure for the condition. Gibson explained that she had long suspected an issue with her body, noting that her legs felt heavy and that the symptoms of lipoedema had worsened as she aged.
Regarding her recovery, Gibson mentioned she returned to work after 17 days, feeling well enough to present a live segment. She stated that none of her surgeries have been painful, though they can be uncomfortable. "I would definitely do it again, I would love to get my legs done," she said. She has already undergone one surgery on her legs, which involved liposuction on the lower portion, and plans for three more procedures. However, she noted that scheduling and cost are factors influencing the timing of these future surgeries.
Gibson chose surgeon Dr. Paul Tulley for her arm lift, describing him as "the arm guy" and someone she felt comfortable with immediately. She emphasized the importance of feeling relaxed and confident in a surgeon's care.
To aid her recovery, Gibson utilized various methods, including laser treatment for her scars, an oxygen chamber, and supplements such as Vitamin D and Glutathione. She also took NAD+ and a sleep aid to promote healing during rest.
The cost of Gibson's arm surgery exceeded £8,000, a figure that includes both liposuction and skin removal. She clarified that she is not a medical professional and is sharing her personal experience, advising others to conduct their own research. For her, the surgery has been transformative, providing a sense of relief and enabling her to feel more comfortable wearing clothing like vest tops.
