Josie Gibson recently shared images of her arms following a £7,000 brachioplasty, a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the upper arm. Gibson, 41, appeared on the set of "This Morning" wearing a sleeveless yellow dress, showcasing the results of the surgery which she stated involved the removal of 45 percent of her arms. She described the procedure as "the best thing she ever did" after being diagnosed with lipoedema.
Lipoedema is a chronic condition characterized by the abnormal buildup of adipose tissue, typically affecting the legs, buttocks, hips, and sometimes the arms. The condition affects both sides of the body equally and is more common in women. The NHS notes that lipoedema can significantly impact a person's daily routine, physical health, and emotional well-being, and it is distinct from obesity.
Gibson revealed that the lipoedema diagnosis was a "light-bulb moment" for her, as she had previously struggled with her appearance for many years. She stated that she was told "You can't out-train lipoedema," which made sense of her difficulties in shifting stubborn fat deposits despite working out.
In addition to the brachioplasty, Gibson has focused on her overall wellness. She has incorporated a treadmill for daily steps and at-home circuit training. She also takes collagen supplements and electrolytes and has been exploring lymphatic drainage and the lymphatic system's function. Gibson previously addressed speculation about weight loss jabs, attributing her weight changes to her busy schedule as a working mother and expressing concerns about potential side effects of such treatments, including hair loss and digestive issues.
Gibson appeared alongside co-host Paddy McGuinness and Sian Welby on the ITV program. Later, she was seen in Covent Garden wearing a white cropped jacket and blue denim jeans, with her blonde hair styled in an updo and wearing black flip-flops.
