Josie Gibson has shared that the father of her son, Reggie, Terry Bond, has re-entered their lives after a period of estrangement. Gibson, 41, stated that she and Bond are currently working to rebuild their relationship for the sake of their seven-year-old son.
Speaking to The Sun, Gibson explained their efforts, saying, "We're trying to build our relationship back to best co-parent Reggie and create a stable life for our son." She had not previously disclosed that Bond had been estranged from Reggie, but she has now confirmed they are attempting to re-establish their connection.
The television personality and Bond initially separated just four months after Reggie's birth in 2018. They briefly lived together again during the COVID-19 pandemic to facilitate co-parenting, though Gibson has largely raised their son as a single parent. Following a period of absence, Bond has returned, and the couple is focused on working through their co-parenting dynamic.
Gibson also commented on her current romantic life, stating she is not dating and has been protective of Reggie in this regard. "I don't want different men around my son, I'm really funny about things like that. I would never let Reg see me with a man," she said, noting she has turned down opportunities to appear on dating shows.
She reflected on her public profile, admitting that her experiences have led her to become more guarded. "I used to be really soft-hearted, but people took the mick. They take your kindness for weakness," Gibson stated. "I used to give a lot more people access to my life, and now I don't. I don't let people in at all."
During the pandemic lockdown, Gibson had revealed that Bond moved back into her home. At the time, she admitted to still being in love with him. However, she recently told new! magazine that he has since moved out. "I'm choosing to do it on my own for a little bit at the moment," she said, adding that her sisters provide support and that she wants to dedicate her efforts to motherhood.
Gibson expressed her aspirations for Reggie, stating, "I want Reg to grow into something amazing, like a space engineer, something like that. I want him to excel."
Regarding the initial separation, Gibson had previously stated that she and Terry "never got on." However, in a more recent appearance on ITV's Loose Women, she described their relationship as complicated, saying, "He is one of those people you can't live with you can't live without."
She elaborated on their cohabitation during the pandemic, explaining that he moved in after she could no longer take Reggie to the supermarket due to his asthma. "We have never got on so well," she remarked about their time living together then. When asked about the possibility of rekindling their romance, she replied, "We still stay in separate rooms but yeah, I love him to bits."
Gibson also noted the shift in perspective brought on by the pandemic, stating, "When there is a pandemic you realise the little things are so trivial. The big things are important. What we used to argue about seems so trivial, so unimportant."
She expressed hope for their future, stating, "Who knows, I hope so." She added, "I really hope so. Seeing him and Reggie together is golden. It is so lovely. To see a man and his son is so special. They are obsessed with each other."
