A crucial court date for Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been moved to September 10, a change that could have significant implications for his participation in the team's 2026-27 season. The initial appearance, originally scheduled for November 17, was rescheduled without a stated reason.

Jacobs faces one misdemeanor count of battery and one misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property. Court documents allege that on May 23, Jacobs engaged in a dispute with his girlfriend at his Brown County home. Prosecutors claim the argument escalated when the woman accused Jacobs of "talking to other girls," leading to him allegedly throwing her to the ground, causing a head injury, and damaging her phone. A portion of the incident was reportedly captured on video.

Jacobs was arrested on May 26 and formally charged on August 27. Three days later, he was placed on the commissioner's exempt list, which prohibits him from practicing or playing with the Packers. His attorneys have stated that the allegations will be addressed in court.

The outcome of the legal proceedings could determine Jacobs' availability. If the case is resolved through a plea deal, he may be permitted to play for the Packers. However, if the case remains unresolved, he could continue to be on the commissioner's exempt list.

It is unclear if Jacobs himself will appear at the September 10 hearing. A recent filing indicated that he has authorized his attorneys to represent him in all matters related to the proceedings.
