Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been charged with misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property following an alleged physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend at his Wisconsin home on May 23. District Attorney David L. Lasee stated that surveillance footage from the incident supports the woman's account to officers.

The woman told police that during an argument over Jacobs speaking with other girls, he allegedly grabbed her as she was trying to leave their garage, threw her to the ground, and took her phone. According to the incident report, she struck her head and sustained an injury, experiencing pain and difficulty walking back into the house.

Lasee confirmed that garage security camera footage from the morning of May 23 appears to show the relevant events, including both individuals departing and returning to the residence, as well as Jacobs taking the woman's phone and subsequently appearing to damage it. The video has not been made public.

Jacobs turned himself in three days after the alleged incident. His attorneys released a statement indicating that the Brown County District Attorney reviewed the evidence and filed misdemeanor charges that do not include domestic violence. They added that the allegations would be addressed in court and respected the district attorney's process.

The Packers organization stated it is aware of the incident and is cooperating with the NFL's review. The league confirmed it is closely monitoring the situation.

If the surveillance footage is released, Jacobs could face further disciplinary action from the NFL, drawing parallels to the case of former NFL running back Ray Rice, whose career ended after a video of him assaulting his then-fiancée surfaced in 2014. Rice initially received a two-game suspension before being cut by his team and indefinitely suspended by the league once the video became public.
