Josh Brolin Says 'Sicario 3' is in the Works, Reuniting with Del Toro and Blunt
The actor confirmed the third installment is moving forward, though without a script from creator Taylor Sheridan.
The development of "Sicario 3" is progressing, with star Josh Brolin confirming that the film is currently in the "notes process." Brolin is set to reprise his role as CIA operative Matt Graver, reuniting with co-stars Benicio Del Toro and Emily Blunt.
While the franchise creator Taylor Sheridan will not be penning the script for the third installment, Steven Knight has taken on writing duties. Brolin expressed enthusiasm for returning to work with Del Toro and Blunt, noting their established chemistry and shared history on screen.
"We adore each other, and we've all worked together before," Brolin told ScreenRant. "Benicio and I, this will be our sixth film together. It's fantastic [to work with Emily again]. I just sent her a little voice memo yesterday, and I just adore her, I adore her. I think the work right now has reached a level that's just untouchable."
Emily Blunt, who starred in the original "Sicario" but did not appear in the sequel, will return for the third film.
There is no official release date for "Sicario 3," and significant production time is expected before its theatrical debut. The first "Sicario" was released in 2015, followed by a sequel in 2018.
