Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen became visibly emotional while speaking about his newfound role as a father during a recent charity event. Allen, who welcomed his first child, daughter Harper, with actress Hailee Steinfeld in early April, spoke at the 117 Holes for Charity event benefiting the Patricia Allen Fund.
The fund supports critical care teams at Golisano Children's Hospital of Buffalo. Allen described a shift in his perspective, stating, "I look at you parents differently because I can picture myself in that situation now, where I never could." He expressed admiration for other parents, calling them "inspiring."
"So I just want to say you guys are inspiring to me as well, and everybody here — and that was what the Patricia Allen Fund was made for to not just support those kids, but to support these families," Allen said. He continued, "This year has been so different and I cant really put it into words what it means. But I know that feeling of holding your son or daughter and wanting to take away every pain that they may feel."
Allen, who is entering his ninth season with the Bills, has been open about how fatherhood has changed his outlook on life since Harper's birth. Allen and Steinfeld, an Oscar-nominated actress, became engaged in November 2024 and married in May 2025. The couple was first seen together in May 2023. The Bills are scheduled to open their 2026 NFL regular season against the Texans on Sept. 13.
