Jordan Klepper Mocks Conservative Media 'Freakout' Over Obama's Cheesecake Factory Remark

“The Daily Show” host Jordan Klepper on Tuesday critiqued the conservative media's reaction to a comment made by former President Barack Obama regarding his successor, Donald Trump. Obama, during a 2026 midterm campaign rally, suggested that Trump's renovations had altered the White House's appearance to resemble "Saddam Hussein [having] opened a Cheesecake Factory."

Klepper presented contrasting segments from conservative outlets that interpreted Obama's remark in opposing ways. Some personalities argued that Obama was disparaging working-class Americans, while others contended that The Cheesecake Factory is actually a "fancy" establishment. "The Cheesecake Factory can’t be a humble yet high-class restaurant for working-class, slash, 1% billionaires to gather with paycheck-to-paycheck members of the Illuminati. It just doesn’t make any sense," Klepper observed, suggesting a lack of consensus within the conservative media's outrage cycle.

He then turned to Obama's original point that Trump is "obsessed with home renovations." Klepper suggested that Trump might have fallen into a trap by focusing on his White House renovations, playing a montage of Trump discussing his redesigns.

"I will say, it is refreshing to hear Donald Trump talk about something he actually has a working knowledge of," Klepper quipped, implying Trump's extensive discussion of renovations confirmed Obama's initial assessment.
