“The Daily Show” host Jordan Klepper reacted with strong disapproval to a New York Times report detailing an alleged tactic by Democratic operatives in Alaska. According to the report, the operatives searched for a man with the same name as Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan to run as a “spoiler” candidate against him in the 2026 midterm elections.
Klepper expressed his dismay, stating, “Holy shit. That is dirty as fuck.” He added, “Wow, wow. I mean, wow.”
The comedian criticized the reported strategy, remarking, “Democrats, instead of devoting their energy to coming up with an effective platform that attracts voters, they said, ‘Fuck it, let’s just scour the Arctic looking for Dans.’”
Klepper asserted that such tactics are “bad news and not how our elections should work.” He concluded, “Democracy should be won on a battle of ideas, not on trying to trick voters.”
