Jonathan Taylor Thomas Seen After Arrest for Resisting Officer, Public Intoxication

Jonathan Taylor Thomas, known for his role in the 1990s sitcom "Home Improvement," was seen looking disheveled on Thursday, his first public appearance since his arrest on Monday. The 45-year-old actor was spotted in Los Angeles following his detainment in Westlake Village, California.

According to a press release from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, deputies observed a vehicle blocking traffic at an intersection and approached the driver, who appeared to be intoxicated. During field sobriety tests, Thomas, who was not driving, reportedly "continually exited the vehicle and approached the deputies, distracting them from their investigation."

Deputies attempted to detain Thomas for obstruction and public intoxication. The release states that Thomas "kicked a deputy in the stomach" during the confrontation. He was arrested and booked on charges of obstruction and public intoxication at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station. The driver of the vehicle was also arrested for driving under the influence. Thomas was released the following day, and the charge has been classified as a felony.

Thomas, who played Randy Taylor on "Home Improvement," was a prominent child actor in the 1990s, also lending his voice to young Simba in "The Lion King." He largely stepped away from acting in 2006, pursuing education at Harvard and Columbia universities. He made a brief return to television with a guest role on Tim Allen's sitcom "Last Man Standing" from 2013 to 2015. Since 2017, Thomas has served on the national board of the media labor union SAG-AFTRA.

Tim Allen, Thomas's co-star on "Home Improvement," recently commented on the possibility of a reunion, noting that "personality problems" and "issues" among the younger cast members have made a revival "difficult."
