Jonathan Taylor Thomas Detained for Resisting Officer After Being Found Intoxicated in Public
The former child star, known for his role in 'Home Improvement,' was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over by deputies in California.
Jonathan Taylor Thomas, the actor best known for his role as Randy Taylor on the 1990s sitcom "Home Improvement," was detained on Monday in Westlake Village, California, for allegedly obstructing or resisting an officer after being found intoxicated in public. Deputies pulled over the vehicle in which Thomas was a passenger. According to reports, Thomas exited the car and became uncooperative when deputies asked him to remain inside.
Jail records indicate that Thomas was taken to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station and released shortly after. Representatives for Thomas and the sheriff's station have not yet provided comment.
Thomas was a prominent child star in the 1990s, also lending his voice to young Simba in Disney's "The Lion King." He stepped away from acting in 2006, prioritizing education and travel, and later studied at Harvard and Columbia universities. He made a brief return to television with a four-episode guest appearance on Tim Allen's sitcom "Last Man Standing" between 2013 and 2015. Since 2017, Thomas has served as a national board member for the media labor union SAG-AFTRA.
"Home Improvement" aired for eight seasons from 1991 to 1999. Tim Allen, who starred as the show's patriarch, recently commented on the challenges of a potential revival, citing unspecified "personality problems" among his former young co-stars. Thomas has largely stayed out of the public eye since ending his acting career, with occasional reunions with former castmates sparking fan interest.
