Jonathan Taylor Thomas, 45, known for his role in the 1990s sitcom "Home Improvement," was reportedly detained for obstructing or resisting an officer on Monday in Westlake Village, California. The incident occurred after deputies pulled over the vehicle in which Thomas was a passenger.

According to reports, Thomas exited the vehicle and refused a deputy's request to remain inside, becoming uncooperative. Law enforcement sources indicated that Thomas was intoxicated in public and resisted their directives. He was taken to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station jail and released shortly thereafter.

Thomas, who played middle son Randy Taylor on "Home Improvement," was a prominent child actor in the 1990s, also appearing in "The Lion King" and "Man of the House." The hit series "Home Improvement" ran for eight seasons from 1991 to 1999.

After stepping away from acting in 2006, Thomas made a brief return for a guest role on Tim Allen's sitcom "Last Man Standing" between 2013 and 2015. He has served as a national board member of the media labor union SAG-AFTRA since 2017. In 2013, Thomas told People that he had been working nonstop since age 8 and wanted a break to attend school and travel, having studied at Harvard and Columbia.

He previously expressed that he did not take fame too seriously, viewing his time in the spotlight with a sense of humor and focusing on positive experiences rather than his celebrity status. Recently, Tim Allen commented on the challenges of a "Home Improvement" revival due to what he described as "personality problems" and "issues" among the younger cast members.
