Former child star Jonathan Taylor Thomas has made a rare public appearance in a reunion photo with his "Home Improvement" co-stars Patricia Richardson and Taran Noah Smith. The snapshot, shared by Richardson on social media, comes more than 25 years after the popular sitcom concluded its run.
Richardson, who played Jill Taylor, the on-screen wife of Tim Allen's character Tim "The Toolman" Taylor, captioned the photo "My other boys," referring to Thomas and Smith, who portrayed sons Randy and Mark Taylor, respectively. Zachery Ty Bryan played the oldest son, Brad.
Thomas, who became a major teen heartthrob in the 1990s for his role as Randy Taylor, largely withdrew from the entertainment industry at the height of his fame. He told People magazine in 2013 that he decided to step away to attend school and take a break after working continuously since age 8.
Thomas's departure from "Home Improvement" occurred during the show's eighth and final season, with his character moving to Costa Rica. While he largely remained out of the spotlight, he did make a brief return to acting, appearing in and directing episodes of Tim Allen's subsequent series, "Last Man Standing," between 2013 and 2015.
Since leaving "Home Improvement," Taran Noah Smith has pursued various endeavors outside of acting. He previously created a vegan food company, worked as an installation artist, and was involved in developing energy-efficient water purification systems. Smith's post-Hollywood life has also included personal controversies, including a marriage at 17 to a woman 16 years his senior, a subsequent divorce, and a legal dispute over his trust fund.
Zachery Ty Bryan, who played Brad Taylor, has had a notable career in television and film, with appearances in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Veronica Mars," and "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift." However, Bryan has also faced legal challenges in recent years, including a DUI arrest in 2024 that resulted in a 16-month prison sentence after he pleaded guilty.
The reunion photo offers fans a nostalgic look at the cast of the beloved 90s sitcom, whose members have since embarked on diverse personal and professional paths.
