Jonathan Taylor's Wife Fuels Trade Speculation with Social Media Activity
The spouse of the Indianapolis Colts' star running back has liked posts hinting at potential moves to other teams, despite Taylor's own assurances.
The wife of Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has intensified speculation about a potential trade with recent social media activity. This comes as the Colts appear to be in a period of significant roster changes, having already traded key players Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner.
Ayanna Taylor, Jonathan Taylor's wife, has liked Instagram comments that suggest her husband could be traded to teams like the Denver Broncos. She also engaged with a post featuring Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray holding the Super Bowl trophy, further fueling rumors. These actions follow an earlier social media post from Ayanna expressing concern over the uncertainty surrounding her family amidst the Colts' recent trades.
Despite the external speculation, Jonathan Taylor himself stated on Thursday that he has not requested a trade and remains committed to the Colts. "I'm always proud to wear the horseshoe," he said. "No one is going out there, waving the white flag of surrender. We're going out there to compete. We're going out there to get a 'W.'"
Taylor expressed his belief in the team's ability to win, even questioning if the franchise was initiating a rebuild. The Colts traded Nelson, a three-time All-Pro, to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-rounder. DeForest Buckner was sent to the San Francisco 49ers for a 2027 fourth-round pick. Both Nelson and Buckner are on expiring contracts.
In contrast, Taylor is under contract with the Colts through 2028, having signed a two-year, $44 million extension in August. At 27 years old, the 2021 NFL rushing champion has demonstrated continued high performance, leading the league with 18 rushing touchdowns last season and sharing the league lead with eight this season heading into Week 8. He ranked third in rushing yards last season and currently sits fifth in the league with 587 yards.
Ayanna Taylor's concerns were voiced on TikTok, where she posted videos reacting to the trades of Nelson and Buckner. One video, captioned "POV: You're just tryin to relax at your hair appointment, but Colts players are getting traded left and right and your husband could be next," captured her shock. Another post questioned, "Q [Quenton Nelson] and now DeForest… should I start packing?!" adding, "Is literally anybody safe on this team? ... So, naturally, my mind is spiraling. Is this the start of the trade frenzy? What does this mean for my husband and I? Do I need to start packing our bags?"
Taylor's strong performance and lucrative contract make him a valuable asset, but his stated desire is to remain with the team that drafted him in 2020. The recent trades and his wife's social media engagement have created a dynamic of uncertainty around his future with the Indianapolis Colts.
