Jonathan Taylor Confirms No Trade Request Amid Colts' Struggles

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has stated that he has not requested a trade, despite swirling rumors and the team's challenging 2-5 start to the 2026 season. Taylor, who has been a focal point of speculation leading up to the NFL trade deadline, expressed his commitment to the Colts.

“I haven’t heard anything, and I can’t control that,” Taylor said, according to ESPN. “Obviously, you guys know that I’m always proud to wear the horseshoe, proud to be here.”

Taylor acknowledged the departures of teammates Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, who were traded to the Seahawks and 49ers, respectively. He expressed disappointment at seeing them go, noting their status as “the gold standard of the NFL.”

“It was all speculation until stuff started happening,” Taylor commented on the trades. “Those guys are the gold standard of the NFL. And obviously the business side of things, that’s where it sucks at. I wish some way, somehow, I could have done more, because I wanted to win for those guys. We wanted to get it done here with those guys.”

The running back also confirmed a conversation with Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon, though he did not disclose the specifics of their discussion.

Taylor, who signed a contract extension through the 2028 season in August, has reportedly attracted interest from multiple teams, including the Packers, Seahawks, Broncos, and Vikings, according to ESPN. Despite the Colts' difficult season, Taylor has performed well individually, amassing 587 rushing yards and a league-leading eight touchdowns in seven games.

“You know that the day always comes,” Taylor said regarding the business aspect of professional sports. “Whether you like it or not, the day may come. You may get to stay somewhere forever, but you understand the business side of it.”
