Jon Stewart to Remain Host of 'The Daily Show' Through 2028

Jon Stewart will continue his role as host of "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central through December 2028, the network announced Monday. Stewart, who returned to the program in February, will host the show every Monday and also serve as an executive producer.

This extended commitment comes as "The Daily Show" has seen a notable increase in both viewership and social media engagement. The program secured two Emmy wins this year and achieved its strongest third-quarter audience numbers in eight years, according to Nielsen figures cited by Skydance Television. Across social media platforms, "The Daily Show" garnered 1.9 billion views in 2026, positioning it as the most-viewed cable program on these channels for the year.

"Jon Stewart is a generational talent and The Daily Show continues to be one of the most influential franchises on television and a cornerstone of Comedy Central," said George Cheeks, co-chair and chief content officer of Skydance TV. "We are excited to continue our partnership with Jon and his award winning news team."

Under the new agreement, Stewart will maintain his Monday hosting duties, while the show's team of correspondents will rotate as hosts for the remainder of the week. The current lineup of correspondents includes Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic, along with Troy Iwata and Grace Kuhlenschmidt. Stewart will continue as an executive producer alongside showrunner Jen Flanz and his manager, James “Baby Doll” Dixon.

"The Daily Show" airs weeknights at 11 p.m. on Comedy Central. Episodes are also available the following day on Paramount+.
