Jon Stewart to Remain Host of 'The Daily Show' Through 2028

Jon Stewart will continue to host "The Daily Show" on Monday nights through the end of 2028, Skydance Entertainment announced Monday. Stewart, a prominent voice in political satire, has extended his tenure with the Comedy Central program.

Under the extended agreement, cast members Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic will continue their rotation as hosts for the Tuesday through Thursday episodes each week.

"Jon Stewart is a generational talent, and ‘The Daily Show’ continues to be one of the most influential franchises on television and a cornerstone of Comedy Central," George Cheeks, co-chair and chief content officer for Skydance TV, said in a press release. "We are excited to continue our partnership with Jon and his award-winning news team."

Stewart first hosted "The Daily Show" from 1999 to 2015. He departed the program prior to the 2016 election year, stating at the time that "This show doesn’t deserve an even slightly restless host, and neither do you."

Trevor Noah succeeded Stewart, hosting the show until his departure in 2022.
