Jon Bon Jovi abruptly ended his performance at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, citing illness and an inability to deliver his best to the audience. The singer, 64, was performing the eighth of his nine-show residency at the New York City venue as part of his Forever Tour when he announced he had to stop.
"I'm sorry, I'm hurt and you're not getting the best of me," an eyewitness reported Bon Jovi telling the crowd after singing his 1986 hit, "Livin' on a Prayer."
He asked concertgoers to hold onto their ticket stubs, suggesting the date might be rescheduled. "Don't throw away your ticket stubs, I'm gonna figure something out, OK? Just hold onto it, we'll figure out how to reschedule," he said before leaving the stage, adding, "But I'm gonna have to cool it for the night. I feel great."
According to Jerry Braden, host of the "Jon Bon Jovi Discussions" podcast, Bon Jovi was suffering from a sinus infection. Braden noted on X that the singer let the audience sing the end of "Bed of Roses" and commented that while "internet trolls can have at it tomorrow," he thanked fans for their support.
This tour marks Bon Jovi's first since undergoing vocal cord surgery in 2022. When announcing the tour, Bon Jovi had expressed his enthusiasm for reconnecting with fans, stating in a release, "There is a lot of joy in this announcement — joy that we can share these nights together with our amazing fans and joy that the band can be together."
